Jaw Crusher
Choosing a jaw crusher for limestone at 80 t/h comes down to one number: your largest lump. Feed under 425 mm? The PE500×750 is the standard primary — rated 40–130 t/h with a 45 kW motor. Feed up to 500 mm, or want headroom for expansion? Step up to the PE600×900 at 90–180 t/h and 55 kW. Both fit the same two-stage circuit.
That assumes dry limestone inside the crusher's published feed limit.
What size jaw crusher do you need for 80 t/h of limestone?
You need a model whose published range contains 80 t/h with margin on both sides, not one whose upper bound just reaches it. Rated capacity assumes continuously fed, evenly graded material, and Baichy's spec sheets state that output varies with material and feed size — so a 15–60 t/h machine leaves no room for a coarse feed or a wet day.

Which Baichy jaw crusher model fits an 80 t/h limestone duty?
| Model | Feed opening (mm) | Max. feed (mm) | Discharge setting (mm) | Capacity (t/h) | Motor (kW) | Fit at 80 t/h |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PE400×600 | 400 × 600 | 350 | 40–90 | 15–60 | 30 | Below target as a sustained rate |
| PE500×750 | 500 × 750 | 425 | 50–100 | 40–130 | 45 | Direct fit |
| PE600×900 | 600 × 900 | 500 | 60–125 | 90–180 | 55 | Fit with headroom |
| PE750×1060 | 750 × 1060 | 630 | 60–150 | 110–380 | 110 | Oversized; future capacity only |
Source: the Baichy PE jaw crusher range tables. The PE500×750 is the direct fit — it is the primary in Baichy's 100 t/h limestone plant in the Philippines. Choose the PE600×900 for a coarse feed or for growth, and never use a PEX fine jaw as a primary at this rate.
How large can the feed be, and what discharge setting works?
Keep the largest block at 83–85% of the feed opening width, the ratio Baichy's own tables use: 425 mm for the 500 mm opening of the PE500×750, 500 mm for the 600 mm opening of the PE600×900. A block above the limit does not reduce faster; it cuts throughput.
Set the discharge inside the published range — 50–100 mm on the PE500×750, 60–125 mm on the PE600×900 — and as wide as the secondary stage allows. Wider raises throughput and hands over a coarser feed; tighter lowers throughput and raises wear per tonne. Limestone is low-abrasivity, so you can run tighter than on granite.
What does a complete 80 t/h limestone plant look like?
| Stage | Equipment | Model in the reference plant | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feed | Vibrating feeder | ZSW8530 | Meters limestone into the jaw |
| Primary | Jaw crusher | PE500×750 | Reduces rock to about 100–150 mm |
| Secondary | Impact crusher | PF1210 | Shapes and reduces to final gradation |
| Screening | Vibrating screen | 3YK1860 | Splits 0–5, 5–10, 10–20, 20–40 mm |
| Recirculation | Belt conveyors | Belt conveyor system | Returns oversize to the secondary |
The reference plant is rated 100–120 t/h, producing 0–5, 5–10, 10–20 and 20–40 mm aggregate; at 80 t/h the same set runs below its rating and the secondary can be downsized. A jaw reduces by compression, so its output is slabby — shaping happens in the impact crusher, not the jaw.
When is a jaw crusher the wrong choice at 80 t/h?
• You need one pass to 0–5 mm sand. A jaw cannot do it; that is an impact or sand-making duty.
• The limestone is clay-bound and wet. Fix feed preparation first — grizzly or grate-bar feeding — or the crusher takes the blame.
• The deposit is abrasive. Silica wears manganese jaw plates faster, so test the deposit rather than trusting the "medium-soft" label.
• The feed moves between pits. Limestone suits a mobile jaw crusher plant; a fixed circuit costs less over a long life.
Frequently asked questions
1. Is a PE500×750 enough for 80 t/h of limestone?
Yes. It is rated 40–130 t/h, accepts 425 mm feed and uses a 45 kW motor, so 80 t/h sits inside its range, not at its limit.
2. Should I choose the PE600×900 instead?
Choose it if your feed regularly carries 425–500 mm blocks, or if the plant may later run at 110–120 t/h. It accepts 500 mm and is rated 90–180 t/h at 55 kW.
3. What is the maximum feed size for 80 t/h limestone crushing?
425 mm with a PE500×750, 500 mm with a PE600×900 — roughly 83–85% of each feed opening width.
4. Can a single jaw crusher produce 0–40 mm limestone at 80 t/h?
No. The primary reduces blasted limestone to about 100–150 mm; the 0–5 to 20–40 mm fractions come from the secondary crusher and the screen.
5. How often do jaw plates need replacing on limestone?
No published hour figure exists. Plate life depends on hardness, silica content, setting and feed size, so ask for a wear plan for your deposit.
