Dry magnetic separator is a magnetic separation machine for separating dry magnetic minerals. It uses the magnetic difference between minerals for separation, without the need to use liquid as a diluent, and is suitable for separating large, coarse-grained strong magnetic ores and fine-grained weak magnetic ores.

Working principle of dry magnetic separator

1. Recommended equipment selection for magnetic separators
• Recommended models: dry permanent magnetic drum magnetic separator (CTDG series) or dry strong magnetic roller separator.
• Magnetic field strength: 0.75-1.2T (adjustable), suitable for the recovery of weak magnetism (hematite) to strong magnetism (magnetite).
• Processing capacity: Select a model with a processing capacity of 1-1.5t/h (reserve a 20% margin to avoid blockage).
• Key components: NdFeB permanent magnetic system or electromagnetic magnetic system (high gradient), wear-resistant stainless steel separation drum.
2. Process parameter optimization
• Feed particle size: control the tailings particle size to 0.1-3mm (too coarse to be crushed, too fine to easily generate dust).
• Separation layer thickness: ≤10mm (to ensure magnetic field penetration).
• Drum speed: 20-50r/min (adjustable, the lower the speed, the longer the magnetic adsorption time).
• Sorting times: 2-3 levels of series sorting are recommended to improve the recovery rate.
3. Tailings characteristic pretreatment
• Drying: The moisture content needs to be less than 3% (wet materials are easy to adhere, affecting the sorting), and a dryer can be installed.
• Impurity removal: Pre-screen gravel > 5mm (to avoid abrasive equipment).
• Mineral pulping (optional): If the tailings are too fine (such as -200 mesh accounts for more than 80%), wet high-gradient magnetic separation can be considered (the process needs to be adjusted).
4. Supporting equipment
• Feeding system: electromagnetic vibrating feeder (uniform feeding) + buffer silo.
• Dust removal system: pulse bag dust collector (processing capacity ≥ 2000m³/h) to prevent dust pollution.
• Conveying system: belt conveyor (non-magnetic products) + magnetic material collection bucket.
5. Economic and efficiency evaluation
• Recovery rate: Magnetic iron ore (magnetite) can reach 90-95%, weak magnetic ore (hematite) is about 60-75%.
• Power consumption: The whole machine power is about 5.5- 7.5 kW (including fan and conveyor).
• Cost: Domestic equipment is about 80,000-150,000 yuan, and imported equipment (such as Eriez) is more than 200,000 yuan.
